Issues

Keep our schools strong: I support fully funding them, paying teachers more, and ensuring they have the necessary resources to succeed. I oppose school vouchers or using public school funds for private or religious institutions.

Keep students and staff safe: I respect our district’s school resource officers (SROs) and agree they provide a valuable, essential service to our schools. We also need to keep students physically, emotionally and mentally safe by preventing bullying and supporting mental health initiatives.

Stop book bans: Although most parents oppose book bans, a loud minority keeps pushing for them. Our school district even made national headlines for book banning and author censorship. Students should have access to a variety of books, learning materials, and speakers.

Support all students: All students, regardless of their race, ethnicity, sexuality, or gender identity, should feel seen, safe, and supported at school.

Respect teachers and school staff: Teachers and media specialists are professionals with degrees and experience teaching students. Parents are partners in their children’s education, but they should not dictate what’s taught in schools. I respect teachers’ professional discernment regarding the topics and materials they teach. I believe all topics can be taught in a compassionate, age-appropriate way with an experienced and knowledgeable educator.

We have parental rights: Parents have many protections and options to monitor what their children consume in Forsyth County, but I oppose parents or community members deciding what others consume.
